So...It's Christmas Eve...So What?

It's Christmas Eve...December 24th...the day before Christmas...SO WHAT?

I am in a bedroom at my son's house in Georgia...no it is not snowing outside.  I am patiently waiting for my wife to come home from my daughter's house next door.  I know the two of them are getting all the stockings and gifts ready for tomorrow morning, Christmas Day!

So why am I writing this tonight?  Well I was just thinking that there are a bunch of people who will wake up tomorrow and open stockings, gifts, have breakfast, a big special family meal and enjoy each other's company all because of one thing...the Birth of Jesus Christ.  Many who don't even practice Christianity are involved in this event.  It is mind-boggling to even begin to comprehend how many people all over the globe will stop everything tomorrow to enjoy this celebration.

This should really blow us away...at no other time of the year does the whole world engage like this in a religious event of this magnitude.  You may think...well that is not true...there is Easter.  You are correct...there is Easter...but my guess is that Easter doesn't hold a candle to Christmas in terms of the number of participants!  Every year we are confronted with the fact that we are celebrating the birth of the Savior of the World and many unfortunately are only seeing Santa and Gifts, Christmas trees, lights, and presents under the tree.

Wouldn't it be great if we prayed for all those celebrating Christmas to know that Jesus...that little baby in a manger...came to save them to an eternal life with God in Heaven?  Will you take some time tonight and tomorrow to pray for people you know who may not really understand the full meaning of Christmas?  Maybe you need to be the person God uses to tell them about the purpose of this baby Jesus.  The least you can do is to pray...lift them up by name to the Father...then trust Him to convict and change hearts so that they may come to know God their Heavenly Father.

Well the wife is home...and I'm ready for bed...with visions of sugarplums dancing in my head.

Not really...Good  Night!  Merry Christmas 2013
